Grand jury investigating John Rowland ties to Wilson-Foley

A federal grand jury is investigating former Gov. John Rowland over his ties to Lisa Wilson-Foley's 5th District Congress campaign.

The grand jury was convened after it was revealed that Rowland was working as an “unpaid” volunteer for Wilson-Foley’s campaign while at the same time being paid $30,000 to work as a “consultant” for a business owned by Wilson-Foley’s husband, Brian Foley.

Man accused of lying to police again in Smolinski disappearance

DERBY — Chad Hanson, 32, who has been identified in court papers as a suspect in the disappearance of Waterbury resident William Smolinski eight years ago, has been arrested again.

Hanson was charged with making a false report concerning injury or death, a felony, after state officials made a fruitless, 10-day search for Smolinski’s body at a wooded area in Oxford.
