A federal grand jury is investigating former Gov. John Rowland over his ties to Lisa Wilson-Foley's 5th District Congress campaign.

The grand jury was convened after it was revealed that Rowland was working as an “unpaid” volunteer for Wilson-Foley’s campaign while at the same time being paid $30,000 to work as a “consultant” for a business owned by Wilson-Foley’s husband, Brian Foley.

DERBY — Chad Hanson, 32, who has been identified in court papers as a suspect in the disappearance of Waterbury resident William Smolinski eight years ago, has been arrested again.

Hanson was charged with making a false report concerning injury or death, a felony, after state officials made a fruitless, 10-day search for Smolinski’s body at a wooded area in Oxford.

Former university leaders, professors and physicians dominate the top state pension recipients, with the highest figure at $272,952 a year.
The Office of the State Comptroller recently released 2011 net pension information for retired state employees at the request of the New Haven Register.
Of the 43,856 individuals listed on the document as having collected funds, 469 got more than $100,000 in 2011.
The top 10 pension earners received more than $2.2 million combined in 2011.
